German Greens Urge Government Probe into Epstein Files for Domestic Links

(MENAFN) Germany’s opposition Green Party has urged the government to investigate recently released documents related to Jeffrey Epstein for possible links to German officials or citizens, according to reports.

The call follows the US Justice Department’s release of an extensive collection of evidence—including over three million pages, 2,000 videos, and 180,000 images—detailing Epstein’s connections to global elites and politicians.

Green Party lawmaker Irene Mihalic criticized the government’s current inaction, describing it as “dangerous ignorance” given the international scale of the scandal. She stressed the need to examine whether German officials appear in the files or if the documents reveal human trafficking involving German citizens.

“This is not the time to sit around twiddling your thumbs and hoping that the worst will pass you by,” Mihalic said. “Given the seriousness of the situation, the government should proactively and systematically evaluate the publicly available material.”

Sergey Lagodinsky, vice chairman of the Greens in the European Parliament, called for a wider European investigation, highlighting the importance of assessing the findings promptly and coordinating with international partners. “Where there is reliable evidence of cross-border crime, money laundering, or political influence, this cannot remain a purely national issue,” he said.

Jeffrey Epstein, an American financier with connections to powerful figures worldwide, was accused of sexually exploiting over a thousand underage girls and young women, allegedly supplying them to influential individuals. In 2019, he was found dead in his Manhattan detention cell while facing federal sex trafficking charges, with authorities concluding his death was a suicide.
